Sass Will Bite You In The Ass

I just got word from my team captain that the Dairyland Dolls lost to the Windy City Rollers (Chicago's derby team), which means they have been eliminated from the tournament and will not be going to nationals in Texas.

This is sad and slightly amusing at the same time. Why this is sad: it's my league, we were voted #1 in the eastern region, and we are good enough to go to nationals. Oh, also, we already bought plane tickets to Texas. This ties into reason #1 of "Why this is amusing", below:

Why this is slightly amusing: 1) Hubris. Last year the
Dairyland Dolls beat Windy City bad (they didn't score a single point) and we have underestimated the Chicago team ever since.
2) Attitude and attendance. The "tourney" players have been a bit snotty lately to us non-tourney players. Recently at a meeting they were complaining about not having more skilled players to scrimmage against in practice, a good third of the players rostered to play in the tournaments either never come to practice except for the week before a game or never come with any regularity, and the coaching, well, let's just say the coaching is sporadic.
3) That f-ing tv deal. The tourney players were all about the MavTV deal and bad-mouthed those of us with any objections to it quite a bit. Bet they're sad they signed that TV deal now that the whole country can see Chicago beat their asses.

And, I always like to root for the underdog. So yeah for Chicago! Tear for the DDs, and maybe next year things will work a little differently.
